On Saturday, we woke up in Rome and caught a shuttle to the airport. We picked up a little Fiat Panda there and started our journey. When we first got the car, it seemed so tiny and cute, but after driving it for a few days it seemed to be pretty big. It was funny that when I came home to my own car, a two-door VW Golf and I heard myself say 'wow, this car is so big' while trying to parallel park. I never thought I would hear myself say that. :)
Our Panda was not the strongest car in the world, but it did just fine for all of our driving adventures in Italy. At first, driving in Italy was terrifying, but once you learn that everyone is driving like a maniac and expecting everyone else to do the same. It's ok because they're ready for it so you can just go ahead and pass right in the middle on the center line despite the oncoming traffic. No big deal.
We decided to drive up the coast toward Slovenia. This was great because we got to see quite a bit of the country, but the problem was that it ended up taking a very long time (the construction didn't help) so it was 2am by the time we met up with Pia and Tine in Slovenia. I still can't believe that they waited up for us! We did manage to to dip our feet in the Adriatic and get some gelato for the first time on our trip from a very strange little shop. :)
More Europe? See Ripabottoni, Italy where my great grandfather was from or Slovenia, the cutest country on earth!
Spread the love! If you think this is neat, share it on the Facebooks!
